In what news channels are calling a ‘landmark decision’, the Delhi High Court has decided that “the State can’t discriminate on basis of sexual orientation.” and “Citizens can’t discriminate against others on the same basis, for access to public places.”
This ruling overturns to a large extent, the controversial Article 377 which was put into effect in 1861 when India was under British rule. Article 377 allows for the criminalization of “acts against nature.”
Where do you stand on this?
