Coming Up Next in Bollywood

So the music of Kaminey has set the tone for probably one of the highest grossing films of 2009. But with some huge banners lined up for release towards the year-end let’s see which, out of these, will be the next film to strike a home-run in terms of both album and ticket sales.

The promos of Hurman-Priyanka starrer ‘What’s Your Raashee?’ are already doing the rounds. The music seems light and mellowed and is composed by Sohail Sen.

However, my pick for soundtrack of the year will have to be ‘Blue’, the promos look mouth-watering (literally). A.R.Rahman seems to be the man with the Midas touch and Australian artist Kylie Minogue has sung two songs in the movie.

Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion was hands-down one of the best soundtracks of 2008, a feat he’ll be hoping to repeat with his October flick, ‘Jail’.

Co-incidentally the same music composers of Fashion (Salim Sulaiman) will score Nagesh Kukunoor’s much-awaited film ‘Aashayein’ starring John Abraham in the lead.

The musical genius of Shankar-Ehsaan and Loy is set to rule the next few months with promising Bollywood soundtracks like ‘Wake Up Sid’ (starring Ranbir and Konkona) and ‘London Dreams’ (starring Salman and Asin) scheduled for release soon. After Taare Zameen Par and Rock On, this fab-trio have a reputation to live up to.

The Pritam-Atif Aslam combo, that has worked wonders in films like Race, have reunited forces for the Ranbir-Katrina starrer, ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ which is due for a November release.

But the battle of two perfectionists comes at the fag-end of the year with two much-awaited (and much-hyped) flicks lined up for release:

The year will end with Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘3 Idiots’ which releases on December 25. Aamir Khan makes one film a year and it normally ends up in the top slot at both the box office and music charts. With a playful script, expect some good music scores on this one as well.

Around the same time, the music of ‘Kites’ is expected to soar high and with Latin dance as the central theme of the movie, you can be rest assured, Rajesh Roshan has worked overtime to make the music ‘foot-tapping’ enough to compliment Hrithik’s slick dance moves.
