It was clearly a year when we saw a lot of new products mostly innovating on existing ones. Laptops became smaller and cheaper (Read Netbooks). Your favourite OS became awesome (read Windows 7).
Cameras got newer technologies like smile detection and mini projectors while mega pixels remained the same. And touch screen phones are so much more common this year with so many new touch screen phones in the market. I bet by 2012 your phone will be your way to the information highway.
Oh well but this time around we at Bindass are going to look at some of the stuff this year that totally WOWED us.
Google Android: Android totally wowed the whole mobile phone industry this year. With brilliant phones like the Droid, HTC Magic, HTC Tatoo, and the Motorola Dext came out this year. The Android App store now has 10,000 new applications, which may pale to the Apple Store but is still very great. Android has been the buzz word of the mobile industry this year.
Windows 7: The greatest, hottest and nosiest piece of software to come out of Redmond this year was Windows 7. It had rave reviews from everyone including beta testers, Mac aficionados and more. And within a month of its release it had already overtaken apple’s complete market share. Windows 7 improved on the changes that Vista brought to security and also added a layer of eye candy, speed and stability to the OS we use almost every day of our lives. Windows 7 is clearly the best thing to have come out of Redmond after Windows 95
Netbooks: Netbooks today have totally changed the PC market as we know it. These small sub notebooks, let you do your everyday common tasks and cost less than a high end mobile phone. In 2007 a computer the size of a netbook would have cost you over a Lakh. 2009 made it a completely affordable pc. We can’t really choose a winner in this category since most of the internal specs of these machines remained similar the only differentiator was the brand and the style. Everyone from Acer to Sony and Dell to Asus has jumped on the bandwagon and its only time before Apple joins in with a premium netbook.
Palm Pre: Clearly one of the best phones in the market, a phone that can rival the iPhone on almost all fronts besides it also adds a keyboard to the mix. The Palm Pre builds on Palms brilliant knowledge of the cell phone industry. It’s one of the only phones that can rival the iPhone with true multi touch, pinch to zoom et al. The phone designed by John Rubenstein (the guy who invented the iPod line and also the iPhone) pulls data from your social networking site and other sources to keep your contact book updated every moment. Clearly a smart phone that keeps the information you want within an arm’s reach!
2010 clearly holds more promise though, all set to look forward to Android getting a stronger hold of the Indian market, faster internet speeds with 3G coming, more networks, number portability. Faster processors for our venerable netbooks and lower taxes if VAT is uniformly charged, which our govt. Promises.

Android is the best os a phone can get ! I use a Google phone (g1) and I feel its the best phone ever !! my dad offered to buy me a new phone but I actually refused ! Really 2009 has seen a major gadget evolution and in 2010-2011 India with 3g etc is really gna benefit alot !!
