New York - Good Subject Wasted

Dir: Kabir Khan.
Star cast: John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Katrina Kaif.

Kabir (Serial Waster) Khan! wasted a good “subject” (Cos story sucked there too) in Kabul Express and has done it again with New York.

My heart vengefully goes out to those who are deceiving public with false (Manipulated) reviews. Because New York is not just an average bore… its torture of the FBI degree.

The story begins post 9/11 when Omar Eijaz (Neil Nitin) is detained by the FBI after they recover arms from a taxi belonging to him. Enter the monotonous Irrfan Khan as an FBI agent who tells Omar that his old friend Sam aka Sameer(Johnny boy) is a terrorist running a sleeper cell in the city and he is a suspected accomplice. He is asked to recount his days with Sam in college and thats how the story starts unfolding.

Cut to the good old days… where Sam, Maya (Katrina…Pretty… underused… better) and Omar were good friends until Maya, Omar’s crush, declares her love for Sam. College ends and so does their friendship.

Seven years later Omar is asked to return to Sameer and Maya’s (Now married with a kid) life as an undercover agent by the FBI, so he can gather evidence to convict Sam. But Omar is convinced that Sam can never be a terrorist. So he takes up the offer intending to get both, himself and Sam, out of this false accusation.

But as it turns out Sam has taken the wrong path (There is history to it- He was detained for 9 months by the FBI after 9/11- when he was a good man-and subjected to gruesome naked torture and he wants to avenge his loss). Omar still believes he can redeem his old friend and thus begins his pursuit.

What follow is all random crap with an end that can be rightly awarded as ‘Most stupid’! Director - Kabir didn’t waste any time on it and so shouldn’t we, discussing. Music sucks as songs crop up untimely in the background. One, quiet honestly cannot enjoy the cinematography or the locales because of these shortcomings.

You must be wondering there has to be something good about the movie- There is! The sub-plot between Katrina and Zilgae (Faizuddin- Only saving grace. Good natural effective experienced acting by the actor!) Reflects more on the subject than the entire movie.

Neil and John, both are only fair (fair and lovely…lol). Kat gets a thumbs up. Then, there is Irrfan (Nothing new) and thats all the movie is about. NOT MUCH.

I know we have been through a dry spell (Movie-wise) but why make a comeback with a lousy night! My advice, Wait for the next Friday.
