Kabir Khan (yes, one more Khan!) makes a come back after a lukewarm ‘Kabul Express’, with yet another serious movie- ‘NEW YORK’. A lot of people are awaiting this movie, as it is the first big release after the strike.

It’s a shame that the film is song-less, because the music strikes a chord with people across all age groups. The lyrics for three out of four songs are penned by Sandeep Srivastava, who does a fabulous job.

The album kicks off with the already popular ‘Hai Junoon’ (KK), and the music just blends in the surrounding…and yes,KK’s magical voice stays with you even after the song is over.

‘Mere Sang’ (Sunidhi Chauhan) seems like it was tailor-made for her. Pritam hits the right notes with this pop-rock track, where the chorus is used well, making it an overall pleasant listen.

Mohit Chauhan gets to do what he does best with the mellow ‘Tune Jo Na Kaha’, an easygoing number which just might be the favorite of many people soon.

‘Aye Saaye Mere’ (sung and composed by Pankaj Awasthi), is by far the best track in the entire album. The number, penned beautifully, has kashmiri folk in its composition. Take a bow, Mr. Junaid Wasi (lyricist) and Pankaj Awasthi.

With two instrumentals, ‘Sam’s Theme’ (vocals- CaraLisa Monteiro), the ‘New York Theme’ (composed by Julius Packiam) and some remixes, the album comes to a close.

The album works very well, with soothing music. Definitely a treat for any listener. The pick of the album has to be ‘Aye Saaye Mere’.

Verdict: Go spend your moolah on the Album, because chances are you might not get to hear the songs in the movie.
