The Nokia N97 is expected to sell for around Rs.35,000 with a one-year warranty. The phone’s pricing is premium. If it turns out to be any more expensive it would spell doom for the initial sales of the phone until it gets a price correction over time.
Coming to the value aspect of the N97, the phone is powerful and has great features. The 32GB of memory, the high-res touchscreen, the QWERTY, the 5MP camera, the widgets, fast processor etc., all are good but there are a few drawbacks too. At a slightly lower price tag, say around the 27K mark, the phone would be a good buy, but anything above and you’re just paying a premium.
The N97 is a great device compared to touchscreen devices like the iPhone and the Omnia. I would consider this for sure because it is better in many ways, but not all. You need to be specific about what you seek out of the device. If it’s a plain ‘do it all’ device you’re looking for then the Nokia N97 would be a good choice. If you want a bit more style and smooth flow of interface, the iPhone is what you should go for, especially if you wish to stay connected all the time.
