Pope Benedict XVI announced last week that a little birdie told him the internet is all kewl and everything.

In a message to his cardinals (within 140 characters), His Holiness set an example, saying, “Priests can rightly be expected to be present in the world of digital communications as faithful witnesses to the Gospel.”
His Holiness’ earlier stance was very different. Just last year, he had spoken out against the internet, saying, “It recounts, repeats and amplifies evil, making us accustomed to horrendous acts, desensitizing us and, in some ways, poisoning us.”
Analysts, however, claim that since even then, he was making statements within 140 characters, it is a distinct possibility he has been on Twitter all along.
It is unclear how priests around the world will take to blogs and to twitter, but one thing is for sure: Now, when people reach the pearly gates, this conversation is going to be very, very likely.

There is already an @jesus on Twitter. Will be interesting to see how the two of them get along
