Reliance Mobile

So here we have Mr. Hrithik Roshan (call him duggu/bond/clown… take a pick…because that’s what he’s referred to as in the ad campaign). The thing that misses me completely in the whole campaign is what Mr. Roshan or Mr. Ambani trying to convey through their advertisement??? The campaign looks more like Mr. Roshans portfolio, the list of friends he misses (are they really his friends) and how humble he is when he’s waving out at the malnourished lightwala on his sets.

The whole idea of the ad campaign (horribly gone wrong) is to announce the new Reliance Mobile Network with its 3G compatibility…but sadly till you reach the end of the 78 sec commercial you don’t know what is apna hero doing by calling his long lost friends via his cell phone…he might as well be using some other service (Vodafone or Airtel) and charging reliance a heavy fee since. Mr. Duggu hasn’t had any release as the main lead since Jodha Akbar (it has been so long that now it seems like it actually released when akbar badshah was ruling india).

The campaign actually has Hrithik calling up his so called friends & teachers and also showing off about the blockbuster films he’s acted in (Jodha Akbar, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai)…someone please tell me is ke liye main reliance mobile ka network kyon buy karu…GOD PLEASE HELP me choose my new phone network because Hrithik is of no help. The campaign skips any valuable information (such as call rates/value added feature, etc) that one would like to convey through the advertisement…because they are busy utilizing Hrithik and trying to paisa wasol every penny they have paid him to get him on board.

With everyone today in the urban India having a cell phone and of course a cell phone network, I am not sure how this advertisement will help them choose Reliance network over others or get them to change to Reliance service provider. Even if you are a die hard Hrithik fan you might just spend the money on his new movie than on giving it to Mr. Ambani.

Hi Mr. Mustansir,

This campaign is the REPOSITIONING STATEMENT of reliance network.. Its not just the services.. value added services or quality of network.. This ad says that.. Reliance is now full of life network.. hope you have seen.. those colorful network bars converting into human figure and back again to network bars..
Infact, according to my opinion its a great attempt for ”Top of the mind recall”.. And along with that whole concept stays back of the mind saying… ”Rejuvenating Life” with a new face.. ”Hrithik Roshan”.. and enjoy life or ”network”…
Am quite sure.. soon they will come up with new ads.. showing their value added services..

in all, urs is a good attempt to write.. but criticism is not the only way to get attention of the readers..

cheers..

hey
i might agree with you to a certain extent.. however, may be if thats the point that Reliance wanted to pitch, they could have had a well conceptulized ad..
the msg wasnt as clear as it was portrayed to be…
thanks for your feedback though smile
