The Bachchans Just Got Bigger With Lux

There’s something big out there and it’s coming closer alright. For those of you who have not seen it, there’s a new LUX ad out there which is definitely going to get your attention either with admiration or with ridicule.

This new ad features Aishwarya Rai (this seems big!) and Abhishek Bachchan (whoa…it just got bigger!) TOGETHER!!!!! The beta and bahu of Bollywood’s first family, The Bachchan Khaandaan. Yes, they’re so huge, they need an article before their name. Sigh.

Anyway, since our sweet Bollywood crazed nation loves the two separately and more so together, this ad kicks a@@ just because it exists. The ad has Abhishek blindfolded by his wife (kinky???). He then proceeds to lovingly pursue her around the room while the camera focuses on her skin, her face and her silhouette while she basically flutters around. In his subtle manic craze for her fragrant body, he chases, crashes into and trips around the room only to mistakenly embrace their old, fat maid.

The ad itself has brought about 25 crores to the “Golden” couple (SERIOUSLY??????) as per rampant rumours. It has been shot by Stephen Mead, some hot-shot director whom I have not heard of. Music has been provided by Shankar Ehsaan Loy who by the way, have done a fabulous job. The antithesis of the scene and the situation where the two of them are in with the very rustic score definitely ups the cool factor of the ad. Those that will trash the ad, will definitely have this tune stuck in their head for a while.

Who do not get excited by FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) commercials or Bollywood will probably find this one a hit and miss. There isn’t anything in the ad that really screams, “Watch me till you wanna die!!!!” It’s one of those ads that you don’t mind having in the background because it sounds nice. It’s not visually exciting and neither does it stick with you, like, say a Happydent ad or something of that sort. Just blah, but nice to hum in the bathroom.

Incase you’ve missed out on the ad, Catch it right here:
