The movie Veer, has an eclectic mix of artists associated with it, hence it does lead to certain apprehensions about its music.

A grand beginning with Taali ensures that you remain hooked to the track, Sukhwinder Singh & Sonu Nigam sing it with full gusto and Wajid & Neuman Pinto complement the dynamic duo. The track does have a Rahman-ish touch to it, but remains very much rooted to the setting of the movie. A special mention for the choice of words by Gulzar; he seldom goes wrong. Later in the album when Sukhwinder Singh goes solo for Taali, he makes sure you don’t miss the other singers; such is his class.

Gulzar spins his magic once again in the form of Surili Akhiyon Wale in the vocals of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan & Suzzene D’Mello. It is soothing, mesmerizing and magical in true Gulzar style with words like “Jane tu kahan hai, udti hawa pe tere pairo ke nishan dekhe”. The English vocals remind you of the setting similar to ‘O re Chori’ from Lagaan. The duet version later in the album with the addition of Sunidhi Chauhan gives it an added freshness. You won’t complain about this track even when on repeat mode.

With Salaam Aaya you are caught in the web of words weaved by Gulzar. With a clever choice of vocalists like Roop Kumar Rathod, Shreya Ghoshal, Suzanne D’mello, this track deserves all the Salaam’s & Ikraam’s.

Meherbaniyan is a fast paced composition and Sonu Nigam sings it with just the right amount of energy. Gulzar stamps his finest choice of words throughout the track.

Full credit and hats-off to Sajid-Wajid to compose a Thumri - Kanha in these fight-to-chart-topper days. Rekha Bharadwaj, Shabab Sabri, Toshi & Sharib do full justice to this pristine track. This track is ‘Music to my ears’ in the true sense.

Spirit Of Veer is an instrumental which brings this unexpected album to a close.

Verdict: Sajid-Wajid have packed a big surprise in this album along with Gulzar whose words never fail to surprise us.
